Route 49 reopens in Stow Creek Township

(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced that the Route 49 emergency repairs have been completed in Stow Creek Township, Cumberland County and the roadway is open to traffic as of this morning.

NJDOT maintenance contractor, I.E.W., has repaired Route 49 in the vicinity of milepost 20, between Jericho Road and Shiloh-Cohansey Road. The highway shoulders had been damaged from the extensive recent rain storms, causing the full closure of Route 49 earlier this week.

The emergency repairs took place around the clock so as to ensure the road would be reopened before the weekend. The work cost approximately $180,000.

Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
