Route 29 to be closed to traffic Saturday morning, November 10 for Trenton half-marathon

(Trenton) - NJDOT officials today announced a coordinated closure of a section of Route 29 in Trenton on Saturday morning to accommodate the inaugural running of a half-marathon race.

Route 29 and all access ramps to the highway will be closed between Route 129 and I-95 on Saturday, November 19 from 7:30 a.m. until around noon (12 p.m.). In addition, the ramps from both northbound and southbound I-95 to southbound Route 29 will be closed.

The following detour routes will be in place for Route 29 motorists:

• Route 29 southbound motorists will be directed onto I-95 northbound to follow existing highway signage directing motorists to existing alternate routes into Trenton (Route 206 or Route 1).

• Route 29 northbound motorists will be directed to use Route 129 north where they can access local Trenton streets or Route 1 northbound for through traffic.

The course will take runners along a tour of Trenton’s historical district then across the Trenton Makes Bridge into Pennsylvania. Runners will then return to Trenton over the Calhoun Street Bridge, finishing the race near the starting line at Waterfront Park.

The Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission (DRJTBC) will handle the closures of the two bi-state bridges. Traffic management for the event will be handled by the Trenton Police Department with an NJDOT Incident Management Response Team (IMRT) on hand. Variable message signs (VMS) will also be utilized to direct motorists to use alternate routes around the closures.

Event patrons can find directions and information on parking at www.trentonhalf.com

The Department advises motorists in the Trenton area to expect traffic delays throughout the morning. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org real-time travel information.
