Underground water pipe replacement to require
travel lane and shoulder closures
on Interstate 80 in Allamuchy

(Trenton) - A maintenance water pipe repair project will require left travel lane and inside shoulder closures on Interstate 80 westbound daily until the end of August in Allamuchy Township, Warren County.

NJDOT will close the left travel lane between mileposts 21.8 and 21.6 on Monday, July 29 from 9 p.m. to approximately 6 a.m. the following morning to set up the new construction zone. Once the work zone is established, the left (inside) shoulder on I-80 will remain closed for approximately three-to-five weeks to allow the contractor to replace a damaged underground water pipe in this location. In addition, the maintenance contractor has the option of closing the left travel lane between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m., daily, if needed. The work is being performed under a regional maintenance drainage cleaning contract.

The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors. Motorists are encouraged to check NJDOT’s traffic information website www.511nj.org for construction updates and real-time travel information.
