Route 130 improvements project begins in Burlington County

As project advances temporary lane closures will be necessary

(Trenton) -New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials today announced temporary shoulder closures for the start of a roadway improvements project on Route 130 in Burlington City.

Beginning Monday at 7 a.m., July 30 until 3 p.m. and continuing for several days until complete, NJDOT’s contractor, Earle Asphalt Co., will temporarily close shoulders on Route 130 to install signage and begin concrete construction work for drainage improvements in advance of signal improvements and resurfacing approximately one mile between Columbus Road and Jones Street in Burlington City, Burlington County. The initial work will be done on the shoulders and is not expect to require immediate lane closures.

This fall, temporary lane closures will be required for resurfacing and highway improvements.

Variable messaging signs (VMS) and construction signage will be used throughout the project limits to provide advance notification to motorists of all traffic pattern changes associated with the project.

The Route 130 $1.8 million federally-funded improvements project will mill and pave, reconstruct turn lanes, provide new concrete curbs, new ADA ramps, signal upgrades and drainage improvements between Columbus Road and Jones Street in Burlington City. Construction is expected to be completed by early 2019.
