Newark, NJ – Registration is now open for the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority's next Training Institute workshop taking place on Thursday, May 25th. The session will focus on raising capital for land acquisition and pre-development and will provide valuable insight into the various strategies used by seasoned real estate developers to secure capital for residential and commercial development projects. The workshop will be held at Kean University's Hynes Hall, located at 1011 Morris Ave Room 102 in Union starting at 10:00 am.

Participants will learn about the various sources of acquisition and predevelopment capital available, including both debt and equity capital raised from private and public lenders. The workshop is designed for both novice and seasoned professionals and aims to provide knowledge on the various resources available to facilitate redevelopment efforts.

"Raising capital is perhaps one of the most challenging parts of engaging in a development project - and it’s even harder for small and minority developers,” said Leslie A. Anderson, President & CEO of the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority. “We hope this workshop will provide participants with valuable insight and help connect them the various resources available to facilitate their redevelopment efforts."

The session will feature Judith Thompson-Morris and Leonard Robbins of LISC, who will be discussing public and public-initiated programs including CDFI, CRA, and public resources; Christopher Frey of Crowd Funding NJ, Inc. who will address community resources including crowdfunding; and Gary Sopko of Lee & Associates, Inc. who will touch on private sector resources including hard money lenders and syndication, among others.

Key learning objectives for the workshop include: finding out what lenders want and need in today's market to close a deal; understanding strategies used to enhance developer's ability to secure acquisition and predevelopment funding for development projects; understanding the difference between debt and equity capital; and reviewing the different resources available from case studies of actual projects.

This is an excellent opportunity for those in the real estate development industry to gain valuable insight into securing capital for their projects. Interested individuals can register for the event by visiting the NJRA's Training Institute website.
