Explore Redevelopment Planning Law at the New Jersey Redevelopment Authority's Training Institute

TRENTON, NJ – The New Jersey Redevelopment Authority's (NJRA) Training Institute is excited to announce its upcoming session focusing on Redevelopment Planning Law. The session is scheduled to take place on September 14, 2023, at Thomas Edison State University, located at 111 W. State Street in Trenton, NJ.

The course objective is to provide participants with a comprehensive understanding of the vital issues, steps, and challenges associated with New Jersey’s Local Redevelopment and Housing Law (LRHL).

Designed for learners of all levels, this course offers an in-depth review of legal matters and challenges, discussions surrounding the redevelopment planning process, redevelopment plans and designations, community engagement, redeveloper selection and agreements, as well as a detailed analysis of recent legal and public policy issues related to redevelopment, including eminent domain and relocation.

  • Learning legal criteria used to differentiate between an area in need of redevelopment or rehabilitation.
  • Review the technical requisites of the redevelopment planning process.
  • Gain insight into negotiating redevelopment agreements and fostering community involvement.
  • Explore redevelopment policy issues and current case law.
  • Engage in discussions surrounding redevelopment involving and not involving eminent domain, including an understanding of environmental processes, relocation assistance, and financing resources.
