Verify Your Identity with ID.me

The New Jersey Division of Temporary Disability and Family Leave Insurance (TDI/FLI) has partnered with ID.me to verify the identity of some applicants for benefits. This step helps protect your identity and your benefits against attempted fraud.
Certain applicants have to verify their identity with ID.me. If you do, you will receive an email from NJ Department of Labor (noreply@dol.nj.gov) after you submit your application.
If you think your identity has been compromised and you want to let us know, click here to report potential fraud.
ID.me is the next-generation digital identity network that simplifies how individuals securely prove their identity online. ID.me is certified against federal standards to provide secure login and identity verification. Your verified identity helps the New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL) ensure that the person logging in to your account is really you and not someone pretending to be you.
The process can be completed in a few minutes using a smartphone or computer, your Social Security number, and common identity verification documents.
Once your identity is verified and your information matches NJDOL's records, NJDOL will review your claim to determine your eligibility for benefits.
It can take a number of weeks to get approved or denied. Wait times vary and are longest when we're working through a large volume of claims. NJDOL will notify you about your eligibility as soon as possible.
Use one of these alternate resources if you are unable to access your email on a computer or phone:
- A public computer at a One-Stop Career Center
- Your town’s public library computer (please note that the computer will need a camera)
- You can also verify in person at a participating UPS location. In-person verification is a great option if you prefer to not share your biometrics data. The ID.me email you receive from NJDOL has a link that directs you to select your verification method. Use that link to select the In Person Verification method and choose a participating UPS location nearby. We recommend making an appointment, but you can choose to walk-in any time during regular business hours. You must submit your TDI/FLI application and create an ID.me account online before you come in. If you scheduled an appointment, you will receive a confirmation email with a QR code to show when you come in and a list of documents you will need to bring.

You also have the option of completing the process via a live video conference in the language of your choice.
Submit a request with ID.me for help here. NJDOL staff are unable to access your ID.me account or assist with the ID.me process.
You must select "Yes" so NJDOL can receive and review your information without delay.
We will not make any benefit payments to you until we confirm that your identity has been verified.
