  • More than 20 states sue EPA over canceled grants for solar power

    October 16, 2025 - More than 20 states sued the Environmental Protection Agency, challenging the agency’s decision to cancel a $7 billion program that aimed to make solar power accessible to low-income households. The program, called “Solar For All,” was established in 2022 under the Inflation Reduction Act and had appropriated grants to deploy rooftop and community solar projects. It was part of the Biden administration’s push to reduce carbon pollution and was supposed to make solar power more accessible to nearly a million additional U.S. households. But in August, the EPA announced that the program had been canceled and withdrew about 90% of grant funds from the accounts in which states had received the awards, according to the lawsuit.

    October 2, 2025- The Trump administration said it would withhold $18 billion in funding for the New York-New Jersey Hudson Tunnel project and the Second Avenue subway extension in Manhattan.       


  • US energy department cancels $7.6 billion in funding meant for projects

    October 1, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Energy said it planned to cancel $7.56 billion in financing for hundreds of energy projects that it said would not provide sufficient returns to taxpayers. The department's announcement came hours after White House budget director Russell Vought said in a post on X that the administration would terminate nearly $8 billion in climate-related funding in 16 Democratic-led states, including California and New York.

  • Administration for Community Living Awards $60 Million to Advance Make America Healthy Again Agenda

    September 30, 2025- The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ (HHS) Administration for Community Living (ACL) announced $60 million in new grant awards to states, territories, tribes, and local organizations supporting older adults and Americans with disabilities. These awards will strengthen existing programs that protect health, preserve independence, and support caregivers -- key priorities of the Make America Healthy Again agenda  


  • U.S. Department of Education Announces Release of Record $500 Million for Charter Schools Programs

    September 24, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Education (the Department) today announced the release of $500 million to the Charter Schools Programs, marking the largest investment in the program ever. This investment in charter schools will support high-quality education options for parents so their students can pursue learning experiences that best fit their needs, regardless of income or zip code. The Department made awards under all six Charter Schools Programs: State Entity, Charter School Management Organization, Developer, State Facilities, Credit Enhancement, and Model Dissemination and Development grants. In addition, supplemental funding was awarded to existing State Entity grantees to help meet the increased demand for charter schools. 


  • US intends to cancel $13 billion in funds for green energy

    September 24, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Energy intends to cancel more than $13 billion in funds that the Biden administration had pledged to subsidize wind, solar, batteries and electric vehicles, it said on Wednesday. The news came a day after Trump dismissed climate change as "the greatest con job" in the world during his address to the United Nations General Assembly, doubling down on his skepticism of global environmental initiatives and multilateral institutions.  


  • SAMHSA Awards More Than $45 Million in Supplemental Funding to Support Young Adult Sober Housing Services

    September 23, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), announced over $61 million in supplemental nutrition funding will go to over 290 Head Start programs around the nation to support nutrition services, promote healthy eating habits, and improve access to nutrient dense foods for more than 100,000 children and families.     


  • HHS Expands MAHA to Head Start Adding $61.9 Million to Nutrition Services for Children and Families

    September 23, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Administration for Children and Families (ACF), announced over $61 million in supplemental nutrition funding will go to over 290 Head Start programs around the nation to support nutrition services, promote healthy eating habits, and improve access to nutrient dense foods for more than 100,000 children and families.     


  • VA awards $84M in grants to fight Veteran homelessness

    September 23, 2025 - The Department of Veterans Affairs announced $84 million in grants to 176 organizations across the country to help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless. $42 million in grants will cover legal services and another $42 million in grants will go toward case management services to improve housing retention by Veterans who are at risk of becoming homeless or who were previously homeless and are transitioning to permanent housing. New Jersey listed among awardees. 


  • Judge allows Trump to cut more than $1bn in National Science Foundation grants

    September 11, 2025 - The Trump administration can go ahead and purge more than 1,600 research grants issued by National Science Foundation (NSF) worth more than $1bn, after a judge declined to grant a preliminary injunction in a case brought by a coalition of organizations representing thousands of scientists.

  • Trump admin ends $350 million in grant funding to minority-serving institutions

    September 10, 2025- The Trump administration will cut a federal program that provides funding to colleges and universities with large Hispanic student populations, as well as numerous other discretionary grants designed to support minority serving institutions of higher education.    


  • Trump’s Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy Announces $86 Million in Grants to Support State Pipeline Safety Programs

    September 4, 2025- U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced $86 million in grants to enhance states’ pipeline safety programs. The funds, administered by the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA), will help state partners inspect more than 85 percent of the nation’s 3.3-million-mile pipeline network.

    August 27, 2025- The Department of Veterans Affairs today announced more than $818 million in grants to 235 organizations across the country to help Veterans who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.


  • SAMHSA Announces $19M in Supplemental Funding to Strengthen Housing Capacity for Homeless People with Serious Mental Illness

    August 27, 2025- The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) is awarding $19 million in new supplemental funding through the Community Mental Health Services Block Grant for efforts to address the intersection of homelessness and serious mental illness (SMI). This funding advances the President’s Executive Order Ending Crime and Disorder on America’s Streets.


  • Trump Administration Puts 46 States and Territories on Notice to Remove Gender Ideology Content from Sex Ed Materials

    August 26, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services on Tuesday asked 46 states and territories to remove all references to "gender ideology" from a federally funded program that provides sexual health education, or risk losing millions in funding. The directive, issued through the agency's Administration for Children and Families gives the states and territories 60 days to revise materials used in the Personal Responsibility Education Program.


  • NEH Announces Reorganization of its Grantmaking Offices, Programs, and Personnel

    August 20, 2025 - The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) has announced an agency-wide reorganization to consolidate its grantmaking programs and divisions. Following a reduction in force (RIF) of two thirds of the agency’s workforce in June, NEH will merge the functions and staff of seven grantmaking offices and divisions into four new divisions to support projects that advance humanities research, education, public programs, infrastructure, and cultural preservation. 


  • 20 states and D.C. sue DOJ to stop immigration conditions on funds for crime victims

    August 19, 2025- A coalition of attorneys general from 20 states and Washington, D.C., is asking a federal judge to stop the U.S. Department of Justice from withholding federal funds earmarked for crime victims if states don’t cooperate with the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement efforts.


  • Ed Department Preparing To Cut Millions In Special Education Funding, Advocates Warn

    August 18, 2025 - Disability advocates say that the U.S. Department of Education could cancel hundreds of grants made under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act in the coming weeks. The awards in question are provided under IDEA Part D and fund everything from technical assistance and parent resource centers to personnel preparation for special educators. Collectively, the grants aimed at improving the education of students with disabilities could be worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

  • Education Department has a backlog of 27,000 complaints about student loans

    August 7, 2025– A key office in the Department of Education responsible for fielding grievances about student loans has a backlog of more than 27,000 complaints after losing nearly two-thirds of its staff. The department revealed the pileup in a July 21 letter to Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass., according to a copy provided to NBC News. The Federal Student Aid ombudsman office receives hundreds of complaints a week, related to problems with student loan processing, repayments and financial aid scams 


  • Homeland Security removes age limits for ICE recruits to boost hiring for Trump deportations

    August 6, 2025 - “The Department of Homeland Security said Wednesday that it is removing age limits for new hires at the agency responsible for immigration enforcement, as it aims to expand hiring after a massive infusion of cash from Congress.... In an interview with Fox & Friends, Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said applicants could be as young as 18.”  


  • RFK Jr’s health department to halt $500m in mRNA vaccine research

    August 6, 2025- The US Department of Health and Human Services said on Tuesday it would terminate 22 federal contracts for mRNA-based vaccines, questioning the safety of a technology credited with helping end the Covid pandemic and saving millions of lives.  


  • E.P.A. Moves to Cancel $7 Billion in Grants for Solar Energy

    August 5, 2025 - The Trump administration is preparing to terminate $7 billion in federal grants intended to help low- and moderate-income families install solar panels on their homes, according to two people briefed on the matter. The Environmental Protection Agency is drafting termination letters to the 60 state agencies, nonprofit groups and Native American tribes that received the grants under the “Solar for All” program, with the goal of sending the letters by the end of this week, according to the two people, who spoke on the condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to comment publicly.  


  • EPA Announces Availability of $9 Million to Protect Drinking Water from Natural Hazards and Cybersecurity Threats

    August 5, 2025 - U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced over $9 million in grant funding for midsize and large water systems to help protect drinking water from cybersecurity threats and improve resiliency for extreme weather events. The agency is also publishing a report highlighting 10 recommendations to strengthen resiliency to cyberattacks in the water sector.    


  • USDA to Purchase $230 Million in U.S.-Grown Foods for Nutrition Aid

    August 4, 2025 - “The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it will purchase up to $230 million in domestically produced seafood, fruits, and vegetables. Funded through Section 32 of the Agriculture Act of 1935, the purchases aim to provide critical support to American farmers and producers while supplying food banks and nutrition programs across the country.”  


  • Interior Department Announces $102.9 Million for Wetland Conservation Projects

    August 4, 2025 - The Department of the Interior announced $102.9 million in North American Wetlands Conservation Act funding has been approved by the Migratory Bird Conservation Commission, providing the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and its partners the ability to conserve, restore or enhance 548,242 acres of critical wetland and associated upland habitat for migratory birds across North America. Partners will provide more than $201.2 million in matching funds.  


  • NEH Announces $34.79 Million for 97 Humanities Projects

    August 1, 2025 - The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) today announced $34.79 million in grants for 97 humanities projects across the country. These grants will support various humanities projects that celebrate the nation’s 250th anniversary; the reinstallation of the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston’s permanent galleries of eighteenth-century art of the Americas; fund a digital edition of more than 13,000 speeches, letters, and other writings by Frederick Douglass; and assist the 9/ 11 Memorial & Museum in decontaminating, documenting, and preserving plastic objects in its collection of items associated with the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001.

Funded through the Forest Legacy Program, these projects will protect forests vital to the economic and social fabric of local communities – ensuring they remain productive, working forests for Americans and tourists to use and enjoy.  


  • Faster FAFSA: Department of Education announces streamlined student aid application

    July 30, 2025– The U.S. Department of Education is rolling out a faster, easier way for students to apply for federal financial aid. Beginning with the upcoming application cycle, the new FAFSA system will include instant identity verification and a built-in virtual assistant to help guide users through the process. The beta version of the updated FAFSA platform will launch on August 4th, with a full public rollout scheduled for October.     


  • Trump administration asks Supreme Court to allow NIH to cancel health grants

    July 24, 2025 - The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to allow it to continue moving forward with canceling National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants over their connections to diversity initiatives. The abrupt cancellations were part of the administration’s quest to slash spending and end federal support for initiatives Trump officials considered to be promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.    


  • VA Announces Improved Funding For Veteran Health Care

    July 24, 2025 - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced an $800 million boost in funding for infrastructure improvements across its health care facilities. On Wednesday, the VA revealed plans to realign an additional $800 million to the Veterans Health Administration's Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) program during the current fiscal year. 


  • Interior Department Revises Guidelines to Speed Up Plugging of Orphaned Oil and Gas Wells

    July 17, 2025 - The Department of the Interior has updated its guidelines for states applying to federal programs aimed at cleaning up abandoned oil and gas wells. The revised guidance updates two federal grant programs, the $780 million Orphaned Wells State Matching Grant Program and the $1.93 billion Orphaned Wells State Formula Grant Program. The changes are meant to cut red tape and help states act faster.

    July 17, 2025 -U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins today announced the U.S. Forest Service is awarding $80 million in Wood Innovation Grants to spur wood products manufacturing, expand active forest management, and accelerate energy innovation across America’s timber-producing communities.  


  • Attorney General Platkin Sues Trump Administration for Unlawfully Cutting Billions in Disaster Mitigation Funding

    July 16, 2025 - New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin today joined a coalition of 20 states in suing the Trump Administration over its decision to illegally shut down the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) bipartisan Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program, designed to protect communities from natural disasters before they strike.  


  • NSF cancels $1.1B in grants, most tied to DEI programs

    July 16, 2025 - Out of the hundreds of grants the National Science Foundation (NSF) has canceled this year under the Trump administration, the vast majority of them have been related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The grant cancellations total to around $1.1 billion and affect 4 percent of all active NSF projects, according to a report published by the Urban Institute on July 9.  


  • President Trump’s Transportation Secretary Announces Nearly $500 Million in Funding to Revitalize American Infrastructure

    July 15, 2025 - “U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today announced $488 million in awards from the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program for 30 projects across the country. The funding will support critical roadway, transit, rail, maritime, and aviation infrastructure improvements that improve safety, reduce congestion, and spur economic growth.”  


  • US Departments of Labor, Education implement workforce development partnership

    July 15, 2025– the U.S. departments of Labor and Education announced the implementation of a workforce development partnership to create an integrated federal education and workforce system. The Labor Department will take on a greater role in administering the adult education and family literacy programs funded under Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and career and technical education programs funded by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. The programs will be managed alongside Department of Education staff, with continued leadership and oversight by Education.      


  • SBA Relief Still Available to New Jersey Small Businesses and Private Nonprofits Affected by Drought

    July 10, 2025 - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is reminding small businesses and private nonprofit (PNP) organizations in New Jersey of the Aug. 11 deadline to apply for low interest federal disaster loans to offset economic losses caused by drought occurring June 8, 2024. The disaster declaration covers the New Jersey counties of Atlantic, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem. The loan amount can be up to $2 million with interest rates as low as 4% for small businesses and 3.25% for PNPs, with terms up to 30 years.    


  • US agriculture agency to end consideration of race, sex in many farm programs

    July 10, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Thursday it would no longer consider a farmer's race or sex in many of its farm loan, commodity and conservation programs, ending a longstanding effort by the agency to address its history of discrimination. The move was made to align with the Trump administration's directives to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion policies across the federal government and because the USDA has adequately addressed past bias, the agency said in a final rule.  


  • Transportation Secretary to Recipients of Federal Funds: We're Tossing All Biden-Era DEI Directives

    July 9, 2025 - “U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced to all grantees that the Trump Administration will not enforce Biden-era DEI and Green New Scam policies or requirements. Grantees were forced to comply with directives that were not based in any statute or regulation.”  


  • U.S. Transportation Secretary Removes Financing Policy Roadblock to “Get America Building Again”

    July 7, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Build America Bureau (Bureau) announced a policy update to the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) credit program that will allow all types of transportation infrastructure projects to finance up to 49 percent of eligible costs as authorized by TIFIA legislation. Due to a long-standing DOT policy, only limited kinds of projects could finance up to 49 percent, while most were capped at up to 33 percent, presenting a roadblock for many project sponsors seeking to build critical infrastructure.  


  • EPA Adds Historic Potteries Site in Trenton to Superfund National Priorities List

    July 7, 2025 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is adding the Historic Potteries site in Trenton, New Jersey, to the Superfund National Priorities List (NPL) — a critical step that will advance long-term efforts to clean up legacy lead contamination affecting homes, parks, and public spaces across the neighborhoodEPA’s Superfund program is designed to clean up the nation’s most contaminated sites and protect communities from harmful pollution. Adding a site to the NPL allows EPA to use federal funding for investigations, design and cleanup at the site.  


  • US Supreme Court ruling may not bar blocking Defense Department research cuts, judge says

    July 2, 2025 - A federal judge raised the possibility that he could continue to block the U.S. Department of Defense from sharply cutting federal research funding provided to universities throughout the country even after the U.S. Supreme Court's decision curtailing lower courts' ability to issue nationwide injunctions.

    July 1, 2025– The Trump administration notified states that it was withholding over $6 billion in previously approved federal education grants to schools. The announcement came a day before the July 1 deadline when those funds have traditionally been disbursed and will likely impact school districts' plans for the fall 


  • Labor Department awards grants to expand Trump goal of one million apprenticeships

    July 1, 2025 - The Department of Labor awarded nearly $84 million to 50 states and territories in grants to expand apprenticeship programs, a move that will facilitate President Trump’s goal of supporting more than 1 million apprenticeships per year. The funds will advance the expansion of programs in traditional and emerging industries, including technology, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, supply chain, transportation, building trades, and construction.  


  • U.S. Transportation Secretary Unveils Sweeping Updates to NEPA at USDOT to Fast Track Roads, Bridges, & Other Key Infrastructure

    June 30, 2025 - “U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy released three sets of landmark revisions to the Department’s National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) implementing procedures. These revisions, which cut USDOT’s NEPA procedures in half, will slash red tape, accelerate major infrastructure projects, minimize delays, and curb soaring compliance costs. USDOT has not initiated Department-wide NEPA reform in 40 years despite widespread agreement that these procedures are inhibiting the country from ushering a golden age of Transportation. Government-wide reforms in President Trump’s first term would have provided much-needed regulatory relief, but the Biden Administration reversed those changes.”  


  • $94 million in grants awarded to Jewish faith-based organizations to prevent ‘violence and terrorism’: DHS

    June 27, 2025 - Secretary Kristi Noem and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded a staggering $94.4 million in federal grants through the National Security Supplemental (NSGP-NSS) to 512 Jewish faith-based organizations on Friday. The grants, which are allocated through the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, are part of a pre-designated fund to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under DHS with the purpose of providing "support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements.”


  • USAID Shutdown Costs Top $6 Billion, Internal Estimate Shows

    June 26, 2025 - Dismantling the US Agency for International Development will cost more than $6 billion, including hundreds of millions needed to fight legal challenges over the shutdown and dismissal of thousands of its workers, according to a State Department draft assessment. The previously unreported estimate was included in a seven-page memo, dated June 3, prepared for Secretary of State Marco Rubio and signed by nine State Department aides.

    June 24, 2025 - As a result, a number of federal programs related to climate change, clean energy and weather resilience have been stopped in their tracks or considered for elimination.  At HUD, this sea change has interrupted the funding cycles for the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program. If fully implemented, the GRRP would provide a total of $4.8 billion in direct loans and grants to fund green, energy-efficient and resilient renovation projects at HUD-assisted multifamily properties both affordable and mixed-income properties with an affordable component.

    June 16, 2025 -  Created in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, NEH’s new Rediscovering Our Revolutionary Tradition grant program offers up to $350,000 to individual institutions, and up to $750,000 to a consortium of organizations for efforts to conserve, digitize, catalog, transcribe, and expand access to important historical collections documenting the history of American independence and the establishment and evolution of American systems of government at the federal, state, and local levels.


  • Human Services Now Accepting Proposals for Age-Friendly Communities Grants

    June 11, 2025 - Human Services announced that local governments can apply for Age-Friendly Communities grants to develop local age-friendly initiatives that support the health and well-being of older New Jerseyans. A total of $2.7 million in grant funding will be awarded to eligible municipalities, counties, and nonprofit organizations partnering with local government.  


  • New Jersey Human Services Awards $3.5 Million in Additional Grants to Grow Inclusive Healthy Communities

    June 10, 2025 - Commissioner Sarah Adelman announced the Department of Human Services has awarded an additional 14 grants to help organizations across the state implement inclusive initiatives that support individuals with disabilities in the communities in which they live, work, learn, and play.

    June 10, 2025 - Stop AAPI Hate is one of five leading plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed against the Justice Department. Vera Institute of Justice, et al. v. United States Department of Justice, et al. claims that the Justice Department’s termination of the grants is illegal.    


  • U.S. Secretary of State orders firings of all USAID staffers overseas to move forward

    June 10, 2025 - Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered U.S. embassies around the world Tuesday to move ahead with a directive to fire all remaining staffers with the U.S. Agency for International Development. He said the State Department will take over USAID’s foreign assistance programs by Monday.   


  • U.S. Transportation Secretary Announces Availability of $5.4 Billion in Bridge Funding to Get America Building Again

    June 2, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Transportationbs Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) today announced nearly $4.9 billion in available funding for major bridge projects through the Bridge Investment Program, and up to $500 million for repairing or replacing bridges in rural areas through the Competitive Highway Bridge Program.  


  • The Secretary of Energy Announces the Termination of 24 Projects

    May 30, 2025 - U.S. Secretary of Energy Christ Wright announced the termination of 24 awards issued by the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) totaling over $3.7 billion.  Of the 24 awards cancelled, nearly 70% were signed between Election Day and January 20th.

    March 21, 2025- The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services sent a letter to Head Start program recipients, amplifying President Trump’s executive order on removing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.


  • USDA Expediting $10 Billion in Direct Economic Assistance to Agricultural Producers

    March 18, 2025- U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, on National Agriculture Day, announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is issuing up to $10 billion directly to agricultural producers through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP) for the 2024 crop year. Administered by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), ECAP will help agricultural producers mitigate the impacts of increased input costs and falling commodity prices.


  • Court Orders White House to Comply with Funding Restoration

    February 10, 2025 – A federal court has ruled in favor of a motion brought by attorneys general in 22 states and the District of Columbia, requiring the immediate restoration of frozen federal funds. The court determined that the administration had improperly continued freezing funds despite a prior Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) barring such actions. The ruling mandates that the defendants comply with the TRO, unfreeze funds, and resume disbursements, especially those related to the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Improvement and Jobs Act.


  • Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Suspends Approval of State Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plans

    February 6, 2025 - As result of the rescission of the NEVI Formula Program Guidance, FHWA is also immediately suspending the approval of all State Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment plans for all fiscal years. Therefore, effective immediately, no new obligations may occur under the NEVI Formula Program until the updated final NEVI Formula Program Guidance is issued and new State plans are submitted and approved.


  • New Jersey Received Over $22 Billion in Federal Funds in FY2024, Marking a 56 Percent Increase from Pre-Pandemic Levels

    February 5, 2025 - New Jersey secured an estimated $22.155 billion in federal revenue in FY2024, which supported 609 State-administered programs, according to a first-of-its-kind report released by the state’s Grants Management Office (GMO). Federal funds awarded to New Jersey were down slightly from the prior year due to the expiration of some COVID funding programs, however funding was still 56 percent higher in FY2024 than in FY2019, the last fiscal year before the COVID-19 pandemic. This increase is a testament to the proactive efforts of New Jersey’s agencies to pursue new federal funding opportunities. Read the full report here.


  • Secretary’s Order Calls for Changes to Competitive Grant Allocation Priorities

    Last week, the Department of Transportation (DOT) issued an order mandating that DOT policies, programs, and activities be based on economic analysis and positive cost-benefit calculations. The order also directs that DOT programs should give preference to communities with marriage and birth rates higher than the national average. This order should not affect formula grant distributions.


  • Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs

    January 28, 2025 - The Office of Management and Budget (OMB), issues Memo M-25-01, which temporarily pauses federal agency grant, loan, and other financial assistance programs. The pause is designed to allow federal agencies to align their financial assistance programs with the new Administration’s priorities.


  • Governor Murphy and AG Platkin Announce Recipients of $14.5 Million in Grant Funding for Violence Intervention and Prevention Work

    January 23, 2025 - Governor Phil Murphy and Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin today announced that up to $14.5 million in grant funding will be distributed to twenty-seven (27) organizations to support New Jersey’s Community-Based Violence Intervention (CBVI) Program. Funding for this initiative has been made possible through the State’s Fiscal Year 2025 Budget, primarily from the Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Fund, as well as through federal American Rescue Plan funds. To date, the Department of Law and Public Safety’s (the Department) total commitment to community violence intervention efforts, which includes CBVI, Hospital-based Violence Intervention Programs, and Trauma Recovery Centers, now nears $130 million.

    January 14, 2025 – The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announced $22.6 million in grants for 219 humanities projects across the county. These projects will foster discovery, education, and innovative research in the humanities. New Jersey was awarded a total of $379,998.


  • National Endowment for the Arts Supports the Arts with Nearly $36.8 Million in Funding Nationwide

    January 14, 2025 - The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced 1,474 awards to support the arts in communities in all 50 states. New Jersey was awarded a total of $365,000.


  • New Jersey Department of Education Awards Grant to Train Educators in Identifying Signs of Suicidal Behavior Among Students

    January 9, 2025 - The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) today announced the award of a grant to help New Jersey teachers receive the training and tools they need to identify the signs of suicidal behavior among youth and connect students with support. The $550,000 federally funded grant, designed to support the launch of the Youth Suicide Prevention and Awareness Campaign, was awarded to the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS), a nonprofit created by two Monmouth County fathers who each experienced the devastating loss of a child by suicide.
