  • Trump administration asks Supreme Court to allow NIH to cancel health grants

    July 24, 2025 - The Trump administration asked the Supreme Court on Thursday to allow it to continue moving forward with canceling National Institutes of Health (NIH) grants over their connections to diversity initiatives. The abrupt cancellations were part of the administration’s quest to slash spending and end federal support for initiatives Trump officials considered to be promoting diversity, equity and inclusion.    


  • VA Announces Improved Funding For Veteran Health Care

    July 24, 2025 - The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) has announced an $800 million boost in funding for infrastructure improvements across its health care facilities. On Wednesday, the VA revealed plans to realign an additional $800 million to the Veterans Health Administration's Non-Recurring Maintenance (NRM) program during the current fiscal year. 


  • Interior Department Revises Guidelines to Speed Up Plugging of Orphaned Oil and Gas Wells

    July 17, 2025 - The Department of the Interior has updated its guidelines for states applying to federal programs aimed at cleaning up abandoned oil and gas wells. The revised guidance updates two federal grant programs, the $780 million Orphaned Wells State Matching Grant Program and the $1.93 billion Orphaned Wells State Formula Grant Program. The changes are meant to cut red tape and help states act faster.  


  • USDA Invests $80 Million to Expand Timber Markets, Protect Forests, Fuel Economic Growth

    July 17, 2025 -U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins today announced the U.S. Forest Service is awarding $80 million in Wood Innovation Grants to spur wood products manufacturing, expand active forest management, and accelerate energy innovation across America’s timber-producing communities.  


  • Attorney General Platkin Sues Trump Administration for Unlawfully Cutting Billions in Disaster Mitigation Funding

    July 16, 2025 - New Jersey Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin today joined a coalition of 20 states in suing the Trump Administration over its decision to illegally shut down the Federal Emergency Management Agency’s (FEMA) bipartisan Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) program, designed to protect communities from natural disasters before they strike.  


  • NSF cancels $1.1B in grants, most tied to DEI programs

    July 16, 2025 - Out of the hundreds of grants the National Science Foundation (NSF) has canceled this year under the Trump administration, the vast majority of them have been related to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI). The grant cancellations total to around $1.1 billion and affect 4 percent of all active NSF projects, according to a report published by the Urban Institute on July 9.  


  • President Trump’s Transportation Secretary Announces Nearly $500 Million in Funding to Revitalize American Infrastructure

    July 15, 2025 - “U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy today announced $488 million in awards from the Better Utilizing Investments to Leverage Development (BUILD) grant program for 30 projects across the country. The funding will support critical roadway, transit, rail, maritime, and aviation infrastructure improvements that improve safety, reduce congestion, and spur economic growth.”  


  • US Departments of Labor, Education implement workforce development partnership

    July 15, 2025– the U.S. departments of Labor and Education announced the implementation of a workforce development partnership to create an integrated federal education and workforce system. The Labor Department will take on a greater role in administering the adult education and family literacy programs funded under Title II of the Workforce Innovation and Opportunity Act and career and technical education programs funded by the Carl D. Perkins Career and Technical Education Act. The programs will be managed alongside Department of Education staff, with continued leadership and oversight by Education.      


  • SBA Relief Still Available to New Jersey Small Businesses and Private Nonprofits Affected by Drought

    July 10, 2025 - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) is reminding small businesses and private nonprofit (PNP) organizations in New Jersey of the Aug. 11 deadline to apply for low interest federal disaster loans to offset economic losses caused by drought occurring June 8, 2024. The disaster declaration covers the New Jersey counties of Atlantic, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem. The loan amount can be up to $2 million with interest rates as low as 4% for small businesses and 3.25% for PNPs, with terms up to 30 years.    


  • US agriculture agency to end consideration of race, sex in many farm programs

    July 10, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture said on Thursday it would no longer consider a farmer's race or sex in many of its farm loan, commodity and conservation programs, ending a longstanding effort by the agency to address its history of discrimination. The move was made to align with the Trump administration's directives to dismantle diversity, equity and inclusion policies across the federal government and because the USDA has adequately addressed past bias, the agency said in a final rule.  


  • DOJ lands legal victory as federal judge allows $800M in grants to be clawed back

    July 9, 2025 - The Trump administration landed a legal victory on Monday after a federal judge allowed the Department of Justice (DOJ) to rescind nearly $800 million dollars in grants for programs supporting violence reduction and crime victims. U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta in Washington denied a preliminary injunction that five organizations sought against the DOJ’s cancellation of more than 360 grant awards and granted a motion to dismiss the case.  


  • Transportation Secretary to Recipients of Federal Funds: We're Tossing All Biden-Era DEI Directives

    July 9, 2025 - “U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy announced to all grantees that the Trump Administration will not enforce Biden-era DEI and Green New Scam policies or requirements. Grantees were forced to comply with directives that were not based in any statute or regulation.”  


  • U.S. Transportation Secretary Removes Financing Policy Roadblock to “Get America Building Again”

    July 7, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Transportation’s (USDOT) Build America Bureau (Bureau) announced a policy update to the Transportation Infrastructure Finance and Innovation Act (TIFIA) credit program that will allow all types of transportation infrastructure projects to finance up to 49 percent of eligible costs as authorized by TIFIA legislation. Due to a long-standing DOT policy, only limited kinds of projects could finance up to 49 percent, while most were capped at up to 33 percent, presenting a roadblock for many project sponsors seeking to build critical infrastructure.  


  • EPA Adds Historic Potteries Site in Trenton to Superfund National Priorities List

    July 7, 2025 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is adding the Historic Potteries site in Trenton, New Jersey, to the Superfund National Priorities List (NPL) — a critical step that will advance long-term efforts to clean up legacy lead contamination affecting homes, parks, and public spaces across the neighborhoodEPA’s Superfund program is designed to clean up the nation’s most contaminated sites and protect communities from harmful pollution. Adding a site to the NPL allows EPA to use federal funding for investigations, design and cleanup at the site.  


  • US Supreme Court ruling may not bar blocking Defense Department research cuts, judge says

    July 2, 2025 - A federal judge raised the possibility that he could continue to block the U.S. Department of Defense from sharply cutting federal research funding provided to universities throughout the country even after the U.S. Supreme Court's decision curtailing lower courts' ability to issue nationwide injunctions.  


  • The Trump admin is withholding over $6 billion in education grants for schools

    July 1, 2025– The Trump administration notified states that it was withholding over $6 billion in previously approved federal education grants to schools. The announcement came a day before the July 1 deadline when those funds have traditionally been disbursed and will likely impact school districts' plans for the fall 


  • Labor Department awards grants to expand Trump goal of one million apprenticeships

    July 1, 2025 - The Department of Labor awarded nearly $84 million to 50 states and territories in grants to expand apprenticeship programs, a move that will facilitate President Trump’s goal of supporting more than 1 million apprenticeships per year. The funds will advance the expansion of programs in traditional and emerging industries, including technology, artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, supply chain, transportation, building trades, and construction.  


  • U.S. Transportation Secretary Unveils Sweeping Updates to NEPA at USDOT to Fast Track Roads, Bridges, & Other Key Infrastructure

    June 30, 2025 - “U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy released three sets of landmark revisions to the Department’s National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) implementing procedures. These revisions, which cut USDOT’s NEPA procedures in half, will slash red tape, accelerate major infrastructure projects, minimize delays, and curb soaring compliance costs. USDOT has not initiated Department-wide NEPA reform in 40 years despite widespread agreement that these procedures are inhibiting the country from ushering a golden age of Transportation. Government-wide reforms in President Trump’s first term would have provided much-needed regulatory relief, but the Biden Administration reversed those changes.”  


  • $94 million in grants awarded to Jewish faith-based organizations to prevent ‘violence and terrorism’: DHS

    June 27, 2025 - Secretary Kristi Noem and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) awarded a staggering $94.4 million in federal grants through the National Security Supplemental (NSGP-NSS) to 512 Jewish faith-based organizations on Friday. The grants, which are allocated through the Nonprofit Security Grant Program, are part of a pre-designated fund to the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) under DHS with the purpose of providing "support for target hardening and other physical security enhancements.”


  • USAID Shutdown Costs Top $6 Billion, Internal Estimate Shows

    June 26, 2025 - Dismantling the US Agency for International Development will cost more than $6 billion, including hundreds of millions needed to fight legal challenges over the shutdown and dismissal of thousands of its workers, according to a State Department draft assessment. The previously unreported estimate was included in a seven-page memo, dated June 3, prepared for Secretary of State Marco Rubio and signed by nine State Department aides.


  • HUD green retrofit grant recipients in limbo after funding upheaval

    June 24, 2025 - As a result, a number of federal programs related to climate change, clean energy and weather resilience have been stopped in their tracks or considered for elimination.  At HUD, this sea change has interrupted the funding cycles for the Green and Resilient Retrofit Program. If fully implemented, the GRRP would provide a total of $4.8 billion in direct loans and grants to fund green, energy-efficient and resilient renovation projects at HUD-assisted multifamily properties both affordable and mixed-income properties with an affordable component.

    June 18, 2025 - U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke L. Rollins announced that the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) will terminate more than 145 Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) focused awards, totaling a maximum savings of $148.6 million. 


  • AmeriCorps Announces Millions in Funding to Support AmeriCorps Seniors RSVP Projects and Volunteers

    June 17, 2025 - AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, announced 105 organizations who have been awarded federal grants to support seniors serving their communities. The federal funding will create service opportunities to recruit and support volunteers aged 55 years and older.


  • NEH Announces New Grant Program to Enhance Access ti Original Documents of America’s Founding and Government

    June 16, 2025 -  Created in honor of the upcoming 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence in 2026, NEH’s new Rediscovering Our Revolutionary Tradition grant program offers up to $350,000 to individual institutions, and up to $750,000 to a consortium of organizations for efforts to conserve, digitize, catalog, transcribe, and expand access to important historical collections documenting the history of American independence and the establishment and evolution of American systems of government at the federal, state, and local levels.


  • Human Services Now Accepting Proposals for Age-Friendly Communities Grants

    June 11, 2025 - Human Services announced that local governments can apply for Age-Friendly Communities grants to develop local age-friendly initiatives that support the health and well-being of older New Jerseyans. A total of $2.7 million in grant funding will be awarded to eligible municipalities, counties, and nonprofit organizations partnering with local government.  


  • New Jersey Human Services Awards $3.5 Million in Additional Grants to Grow Inclusive Healthy Communities

    June 10, 2025 - Commissioner Sarah Adelman announced the Department of Human Services has awarded an additional 14 grants to help organizations across the state implement inclusive initiatives that support individuals with disabilities in the communities in which they live, work, learn, and play.  


  • Stop AAPI Hate sues DOJ over termination of $810M worth of grants

    June 10, 2025 - Stop AAPI Hate is one of five leading plaintiffs in a lawsuit filed against the Justice Department. Vera Institute of Justice, et al. v. United States Department of Justice, et al. claims that the Justice Department’s termination of the grants is illegal.    


  • U.S. Secretary of State orders firings of all USAID staffers overseas to move forward

    June 10, 2025 - Secretary of State Marco Rubio ordered U.S. embassies around the world Tuesday to move ahead with a directive to fire all remaining staffers with the U.S. Agency for International Development. He said the State Department will take over USAID’s foreign assistance programs by Monday.   


  • U.S. Transportation Secretary Announces Availability of $5.4 Billion in Bridge Funding to Get America Building Again

    June 2, 2025 - The U.S. Department of Transportationbs Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) today announced nearly $4.9 billion in available funding for major bridge projects through the Bridge Investment Program, and up to $500 million for repairing or replacing bridges in rural areas through the Competitive Highway Bridge Program.  


  • The Secretary of Energy Announces the Termination of 24 Projects

    May 30, 2025 - U.S. Secretary of Energy Christ Wright announced the termination of 24 awards issued by the Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations (OCED) totaling over $3.7 billion.  Of the 24 awards cancelled, nearly 70% were signed between Election Day and January 20th. 


  • Head Start Grantees Instructed to Present Training, Expenditures Free from DEI

    March 21, 2025- The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services sent a letter to Head Start program recipients, amplifying President Trump’s executive order on removing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives.


  • USDA Expediting $10 Billion in Direct Economic Assistance to Agricultural Producers

    March 18, 2025- U.S. Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins, on National Agriculture Day, announced that the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) is issuing up to $10 billion directly to agricultural producers through the Emergency Commodity Assistance Program (ECAP) for the 2024 crop year. Administered by USDA’s Farm Service Agency (FSA), ECAP will help agricultural producers mitigate the impacts of increased input costs and falling commodity prices.


  • Court Orders White House to Comply with Funding Restoration

    February 10, 2025 – A federal court has ruled in favor of a motion brought by attorneys general in 22 states and the District of Columbia, requiring the immediate restoration of frozen federal funds. The court determined that the administration had improperly continued freezing funds despite a prior Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) barring such actions. The ruling mandates that the defendants comply with the TRO, unfreeze funds, and resume disbursements, especially those related to the Inflation Reduction Act and Infrastructure Improvement and Jobs Act.


  • Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) Suspends Approval of State Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment Plans

    February 6, 2025 - As result of the rescission of the NEVI Formula Program Guidance, FHWA is also immediately suspending the approval of all State Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Deployment plans for all fiscal years. Therefore, effective immediately, no new obligations may occur under the NEVI Formula Program until the updated final NEVI Formula Program Guidance is issued and new State plans are submitted and approved.


  • New Jersey Received Over $22 Billion in Federal Funds in FY2024, Marking a 56 Percent Increase from Pre-Pandemic Levels

    February 5, 2025 - New Jersey secured an estimated $22.155 billion in federal revenue in FY2024, which supported 609 State-administered programs, according to a first-of-its-kind report released by the state’s Grants Management Office (GMO). Federal funds awarded to New Jersey were down slightly from the prior year due to the expiration of some COVID funding programs, however funding was still 56 percent higher in FY2024 than in FY2019, the last fiscal year before the COVID-19 pandemic. This increase is a testament to the proactive efforts of New Jersey’s agencies to pursue new federal funding opportunities. Read the full report here.


  • Secretary’s Order Calls for Changes to Competitive Grant Allocation Priorities

    Last week, the Department of Transportation (DOT) issued an order mandating that DOT policies, programs, and activities be based on economic analysis and positive cost-benefit calculations. The order also directs that DOT programs should give preference to communities with marriage and birth rates higher than the national average. This order should not affect formula grant distributions.


  • Temporary Pause of Agency Grant, Loan, and Other Financial Assistance Programs

    January 28, 2025 - The Office of Management and Budget (OMB), issues Memo M-25-01, which temporarily pauses federal agency grant, loan, and other financial assistance programs. The pause is designed to allow federal agencies to align their financial assistance programs with the new Administration’s priorities.


  • Governor Murphy and AG Platkin Announce Recipients of $14.5 Million in Grant Funding for Violence Intervention and Prevention Work

    January 23, 2025 - Governor Phil Murphy and Attorney General Matthew J. Platkin today announced that up to $14.5 million in grant funding will be distributed to twenty-seven (27) organizations to support New Jersey’s Community-Based Violence Intervention (CBVI) Program. Funding for this initiative has been made possible through the State’s Fiscal Year 2025 Budget, primarily from the Cannabis Regulatory, Enforcement Assistance, and Marketplace Modernization Fund, as well as through federal American Rescue Plan funds. To date, the Department of Law and Public Safety’s (the Department) total commitment to community violence intervention efforts, which includes CBVI, Hospital-based Violence Intervention Programs, and Trauma Recovery Centers, now nears $130 million.


  • National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) Announces $22.6 Million for 219 Humanities Projects Nationwide

    January 14, 2025 – The National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) announced $22.6 million in grants for 219 humanities projects across the county. These projects will foster discovery, education, and innovative research in the humanities. New Jersey was awarded a total of $379,998.


  • National Endowment for the Arts Supports the Arts with Nearly $36.8 Million in Funding Nationwide

    January 14, 2025 - The National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) announced 1,474 awards to support the arts in communities in all 50 states. New Jersey was awarded a total of $365,000.


  • New Jersey Department of Education Awards Grant to Train Educators in Identifying Signs of Suicidal Behavior Among Students

    January 9, 2025 - The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) today announced the award of a grant to help New Jersey teachers receive the training and tools they need to identify the signs of suicidal behavior among youth and connect students with support. The $550,000 federally funded grant, designed to support the launch of the Youth Suicide Prevention and Awareness Campaign, was awarded to the Society for the Prevention of Teen Suicide (SPTS), a nonprofit created by two Monmouth County fathers who each experienced the devastating loss of a child by suicide.


  • US Department of Labor awards $65M to help community colleges increase access to affordable, high-quality training, improve equitable outcomes

    December 30, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Labor announced the award of $65 million in grants to 18 colleges in 14 states to support programs that help community colleges scale affordable, high-quality workforce training to meet employers’ and workers’ skill development needs in critical industry sectors, such as advanced manufacturing, clean energy, semiconductors and biotechnology. Ocean County college was listed among the awardees recieving $5,742,966.


  • USDOT Final Rule Establishes Accessibility Standards for Pedestrian Facilities

    December 18, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) has issued a final rule to enhance transportation accessibility by providing clear and uniform standards for new construction and alterations of transit stops in the public right-of-way. This rule adopts the U.S. Access Board’s Accessibility Guidelines for Pedestrian Facilities in the Public Right-of-Way (PROWAG), ensuring compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). 


  • US Department of Labor awards $99.3M in grants to support training, job services to prepare young people to succeed in high-demand careers

    December 12, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Labor announced its award of $99.3 million in grants to 71 organizations in 31 states. The grant will help provide training and employment services in its continuing effort to expand access to Registered Apprenticeships, prepare young workers for quality jobs and equip them with industry skills.   • USDA Invests $6.3 Billion to Strengthen Rural Infrastructure and Create Good-Paying Jobs in 44 States

    December 10, 2024 –  The USDA announced that it is investing $6.3 billion in rural and Tribal communities across 44 states to expand access to a clean and reliable electric grid, provide safe drinking water and create good-paying jobs. This includes investing nearly $642 million today to expand access to clean and reliable drinking water, sanitary waste disposal and storm water drainage for people in 41 states. New Jersey listed among awardees.


  • National Fish and Wildlife Foundation Announce Over $122 Million from the America the Beautiful Challenge to Restore Lands and Waters

    December 2, 2024 – The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation announced over $122.4 million in grants through the America the Beautiful Challenge. The grants announced will support landscape scale conservation projects. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection was awarded $3,500,000. 


  • Governor Murphy and Commissioner Dehmer Announce Award of $42 Million to Fund Preschool Facilities Projects Across New Jersey

    December 4, 2024 – As part of the Murphy Administration’s goal to provide New Jersey families with access to universal high-quality preschool, Governor Phil Murphy and Acting Education Commissioner Kevin Dehmer today announced the award of over $42 million in federal grant funding to build and expand preschool facilities in 22 New Jersey school districts. 


  • SBA Awards $9M in Grants to 49 Organizations Across America to Help Underserved Communities Access Development Funding and Innovative Research 

    October 4, 2024 - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) issued 49 grants up to $200,000 each to organizations supporting startups through specialized training, mentoring, and technical assistance under the Federal and State Technology (FAST) Partnership Program. Rutgers University was listed among awardees.   


  • DOD Awards $43 Million to U.S. Universities to Purchase Equipment for Defense-Related Research

    October 1, 2024 - The Department of Defense announced awards totaling $43 million to 112 university researchers under the Defense University Research Instrumentation Program (DURIP). The grants will support the purchase of major equipment at 64 institutions across 28 states in Fiscal Year 2025, helping them augment current and introduce new capabilities in defense-relevant research areas. Rutgers and Princeton University were amongst the awardees.


  • U.S. Department of Energy Awards Nearly $17 Million to 23 State and Local Governments to Support Clean Energy Projects and Programs

    September 25, 2024 - The Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) Program, will help local governments, improve energy efficiency, reduce greenhouse gas emissions, and lower overall energy use. NJ was awarded $2,414,180 to expand the state's Community Energy Plan Grant Program by providing local governments up to $250,000 each in competitive funds to implement projects that help advance their community energy plan. The state will prioritize proposals that benefit underserved communities. 


  • SBA Announces $20M in Grants for States to Boost Small Business Exports

    September 25, 2024 - The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and The Voice for America’s $20 million State Trade Expansion Program (STEP) grants have been awarded to 43 state and territory international trade agencies to provide financial support to small businesses. New Jersey was listed among the awardees receiving $400,000 in funding.


  • NSF and Philanthropic Partners Invest More Than $18M to Prioritize Ethical and Societal Considerations in the Creation of Emerging Technologies

    September 23, 2024 - The U.S. National Science Foundation announced an inaugural investment of more than $18 million to 44 multidisciplinary, multi-sector teams across the U.S. through the NSF Responsible Design, Development and Deployment of Technologies (NSF ReDDDoT) program. NSF ReDDDoT invests in the creation of technologies that promote the public's well-being and mitigate potential harms by seeking to ensure that ethical, legal, community and societal considerations are embedded in the lifecycle of technology's creation and use. Rutgers University listed among awardees with $300,000 in total awards. 


  • U.S. Department of Labor announces $12.7M in Grants Awarded to Promote Workplace Safety, Health Training, Education

    September 19, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Labor awarded $12.7 million to 102 nonprofits nationwide to fund education and training initiatives designed to create safer workplaces. Administered by the department’s Occupational Safety and Health Administration, funds from the Susan Harwood Training Grants Program will support the delivery of training and education on hazard awareness, avoidance and controls, and inform workers of their rights and employers of their responsibilities under the Occupational Safety and Health Act. This round of funding was awarded to programs in the categories of targeted topic training, training and educational materials development, and capacity building. New Jersey listed among awardees with $475,080 in total awards across multiple organizations. 


  • VA awards $52.5M to community organizations working to prevent Veteran

    September 12, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs announced several new steps in VA’s ongoing fight to prevent Veteran suicide — including awarding $52.5 million in grants to community organizations implementing tailored suicide prevention programs and services for Veterans and their families. New Jersey listed among awardees with $1,125,374 awarded in funding.


  • New Jersey Department of Education Receives $50 Million Grant from U.S. Department of Education to Support Literacy

    September 5, 2024 - The New Jersey Department of Education (NJDOE) has been awarded $50 million over a five-year period in a new Comprehensive Literacy State Development (CLSD) grant from the U.S. Department of Education. This grant will support New Jersey school communities in advancing literacy skills — including pre-literacy skills, reading, and writing — for children throughout their academic careers, with an emphasis on closing achievement and opportunity gaps


  • U.S. Department of the Treasury Releases New Report Highlighting $3.5 Billion in Clean Energy Investments in Low-Income Communities

    September 4, 2024 - The U.S Department of Treasury released a report with new data on the success of the 2023 program year of the Inflation Reduction Act’s Low-Income Communities Bonus Credit Program. New Jersey was amongst several states to receive an allocation of 28 megawatts worth of energy.


  • USDA Awards $801,000 to Promote Garden State Agricultural Products

    August 23, 2024 - The USDA has awarded New Jersey agricultural organizations $801,000 in Specialty Crop Block Grants to fund 14 projects to benefit Garden State crops such as fruits, and vegetables, as well as horticulture and nursery.  The grants are part of the United States Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) efforts to promote specialty crops in the nation and stimulate food and agriculturally based community economic development. Specialty crops include fruits, vegetables, tree nuts, horticulture, nursery crops and floriculture and account for more than 80 percent of the $1.5 billion in agricultural sales annually in the Garden State. 


  • National Park Service and Partner Agencies Award $25.7 Million to Preserve Significant Historic Sites and Collections

    August 21, 2024 - The National Park Service (NPS), in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the National Endowment for the Arts, and the National Endowment for the Humanities, announced $25.7 million in Save America’s Treasures grants to fund 59 projects that will preserve nationally significant sites and historic collections in 26 states and the District of Columbia.


  • Interior Department Provides $325 Million to Increase Access to the Outdoors

    August 8, 2024 - Acting Deputy Secretary Laura Daniel-Davis today announced the distribution of $325 million from the Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF) Stateside Assistance Program to all 50 states, U.S. territories, and the District of Columbia – the largest annual distribution from the program since 1979. 


  • Interior Department Announces Nearly $47 Million Investment for Community-Led Local Park Projects

    August 7, 2024 - The Department of the Interior today announced $46.7 million in funding through the Outdoor Recreation Legacy Partnership (ORLP) program for the redevelopment or creation of 10 local parks in Tucson, Arizona; Porterville, California; Des Moines, Iowa; Kansas City, Missouri; New Brunswick, New Jersey, Garner and Raleigh, North Carolina; Cleveland, Ohio; and Houston, Texas.


  • The Department of Energy Announces States to Receive $190 Million to Improve Health, Safety, and Lower Energy Costs in K-12 Public Schools Across America

    August 5, 2024 - In support of the Biden-Harris administration’s Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced selections for the 2024 Renew America’s Schools Prize and Grant, a three-phase, $190 million investment to help K-12 public schools make energy upgrades that will decrease energy use and costs, improve indoor air quality, and foster healthier learning environments for students and teachers. 


  • DOE Announces $41 Million for Technologies to Expand the Use of Renewable Power

    July 31, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Energy announced $41 million for 14 projects to develop technologies, Renewable-to-Liquids, for harnessing renewable energy sources like wind and solar to produce liquids for sustainable fuels or chemicals that can be transported and stored as easily as carbon-intensive liquids like gasoline or oil. Carbon Bridge located in Newark, NJ was awarded $719,881. 


  • AmeriCorps Announced Millions in Funding for Days of Service and Volunteer Generation Fund

    July 30, 2024 - AmeriCorps has invested more than $14 million in federal funding to support 45 organizations focused on engaging community members in volunteer activities through the Volunteer Generation Fund and Days of Service. The Volunteer Generation Fund focuses on investments in volunteer management practices that increase both volunteer recruitment and retention. For the Volunteer Generation Fund, The NJ Department of State was awarded $579,360. For the Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service, three organizations were chosen in NJ. EngageNJ was awarded $250,000. Jersey Cares was awarded $100,977, and Literacy New Jersey Inc was awarded $100,000. 


  • Biden-Harris Administration Invests in Rural Communities to Lower Energy Costs and Create Jobs in 39 States and Guam as part of Investing in America Agenda

    July 26, 2024 – U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced today that USDA is partnering with farmers and small businesses to expand access to clean energy and lower energy bills through the Rural Energy for America Program (REAP) and the Rural Energy for America Technical Assistance Grant Program. Today, USDA is investing $163 million in loans, grants and technical assistance that will support 338 clean energy projects in 39 States and Guam. Many of the projects are funded by President Biden’s Inflation Reduction Act, the nation’s largest-ever investment in combating the climate crisis. New Jersey listed among awardees.  


  • NOAA, Biden-Harris Administration announce $72.5 million for New Jersey project as part of Investing in America agenda

    July 26, 2024 - The Department of Commerce and NOAA have recommended $72.5 million for a project in New Jersey to make the state’s coast more resilient to climate change and other coastal hazards. The project encompasses 16 coastal New Jersey counties. The awards are being made under the Biden Administration’s Climate Resilience Regional Challenge, a competitive, $575 million program funded through the nearly $6 billion total investment under the Biden-Harris Administration’s Inflation Reduction Act.  


  • IMLS Announces $22.5M Investment in U.S. Library and Archival Services Initiatives

    July, 25, 2024 - The Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) today announced 85 awards totaling $22,533,904 to support libraries and archival services across the country. The FY 2024 awards were made through National Leadership Grants for Libraries and the Laura Bush 21st Century Librarian Program. The National Leadership Grants for Libraries program supports projects that address critical needs of the library and archives fields and have the potential to advance practice in these professions to strengthen library and archival services for the American public. Rutgers University, the Lawnside Historical Society, Inc., and The Pennsylvania Academic Library Consortium, Inc. were all among the listed awardees with combined funding totaling $282,780.


  • Biden-Harris Administration Invests $371 Million in 20 Projects to Accelerate Transmission Permitting Across America

    July 24, 2024 - In a continued effort to expedite the build out of a resilient and reliable electric grid, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) today announced 20 projects across 16 states selected to receive up to $371 million to accelerate the permitting of high-voltage, interstate transmission projects. These grants will help advance at least 16 high-impact transmission lines across the country supporting the deployment of reliable and affordable energy for consumers and creating good-paying jobs. The New Jersey Economic Development Authority will receive $50 million to catalyze civic engagement, workforce development, and economic mobility in New Jersey communities impacted by the development of offshore wind transmission projects.


  • Biden-Harris Administration Announces $4.3 Billion in Grants for Community-Driven Solutions to Cut Climate Pollution Across America

    July 22, 2024 - As part of the Biden-Harris Administration’s Investing in America agenda, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced selected recipients of over $4.3 billion in Climate Pollution Reduction Grants to implement community-driven solutions that tackle the climate crisis, reduce air pollution, advance environmental justice, and accelerate Americas clean energy transition. The grants will fund projects supporting the development of technologies and programs to reduce greenhouse gases and other harmful pollutions across the country. The New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection via the Clean Corridor Coalition was awarded $248 million.


  • USDA Makes Record-Breaking $14.3 Million Investment in Farm to School Grants

    July 15, 2024 – Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack today announced that USDA is awarding a record-breaking $14.3 million in Patrick Leahy Farm to School Grants to 154 projects in 43 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico. These investments will help 1.9 million children eat more tasty, nutritious foods in school, while supporting farmers and producers in their local and regional communities. Mahwah Environmental Volunteers Organization, Inc. is among the list of awwardees.


  • US Department of Labor Awards More Than $39m in Grants to Expand, Diversify State Registered Apprenticeship Programs

    July 10, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Labor announced the award of more than $39 million in grants to 46 states and territories to increase the capacity of Registered Apprenticeship programs across key industries and provide workers with access to the new, good-paying jobs created under the Biden-Harris administration’s Investing in America agenda. This investment will support the expansion of Registered Apprenticeship in industries such as K-12 education, transportation, clean energy, supply chain, hospitality, care economy and other public sector occupations.     July 9, 2024 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the selection of three organizations in New York and New Jersey to receive a total of $300,000 in grant funding for Environmental Education projects. 


  • AmeriCorps and CDC Award $76 Million in Funding to Support Public Health Needs Nationwide

    July 9, 20024 - AmeriCorps, the federal agency for national service and volunteerism, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention awarded more than $76 million, including $42 million in new funds, to continue building the capacity of the public health workforce through service, including programs addressing mental health, chronic disease prevention and public health readiness. Montclair State University specifically the Montclair State University Healthy Communities Corps was awarded $731,407. The New Jersey Community Development Corp was also awarded $269, 843. Finally, the Rutgers Camden Public Health AmeriCorps at Rutgers University was awarded $214, 627. 


  • INVESTING IN AMERICA: Biden-Harris Administration Strengthens Transit Manufacturing Industry with $1.5 Billion from Bipartisan Infrastructure Law to Put More American-Made Buses on the Road

  • U.S. Department of the Treasury Announces New Funding to Support Technical Assistance for Small Businesses

    July 2, 2024 — The U.S. Department of the Treasury announced the approval of plans for an additional $10 million in technical assistance (TA) funding under the American Rescue Plan Act’s State Small Business Credit Initiative (SSBCI) TA Grant Program. Part of President Biden’s economic agenda, the SSBCI TA Grant Program supports programs that provide legal, accounting, and financial advisory services to qualifying small businesses. The New Jersey Department of the Treasury was listed among awardees with approval of up to $4.3 million. 


  • VA awards $26.8M in grants to support legal services for Veterans experiencing or at risk for homelessness

    July 1, 2024 -  The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs is awarding $26.8 million in legal services grants to a total of 108 public and non-profit organizations, all with the goal of increasing access to legal services for eligible Veterans experiencing or at risk for homelessness.   • HUD Awards $26 Million to Address the HIV Epidemic through Housing

    June 28, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) awarded $26 million in Housing Interventions to End the HIV Epidemic program funding. Grantees receive a one-time award to fund housing assistance and supportive services for eligible individuals and families, coordination and planning activities, grants management and administration.This funding will go to 11 communities across the nation. The Center in Asbury Park, NJ was among the awardees receiving $2,500,000. 


  • Biden-Harris Administration Announces More Than $7 Million to Bolster Clean Domestic Manufacturing and Support Small-and Medium-Sized Businesses

    June 27, 2024 - As part of President Biden’s Investing in America Agenda, the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) announced more than $7.3 million from the Industrial Assessment Centers (IAC) Implementation Grants program for 37 small and medium sized manufacturers. This nationwide program will make improvements at their facilities to save energy, reduce climate pollution, and strengthen the domestic manufacturing sector. Two manufacturers were awarded in New Jersey.  Absecon Hills located in Cologne NJ was awarded $283,937. While, Atlantic County Utilities Authority located in Atlantic City was awarded $300,000.


  • Biden-Harris Administration Takes Additional Steps to Increase Housing Supply and Lower Housing Costs Across the Country

    June 26, 2024 - The White House and HUD announced 21 awards totaling nearly $85 million under the Pathways to Removing Obstacles to Housing (PRO Housing) program. PRO Housing provides grant funding to communities that have been actively taking steps and demonstrating progress in addressing local housing barriers such as outdated local regulations and land use policies, inadequate infrastructure, lack of available financing for development, and risks associated with extreme weather and an aging housing stock. Winners of the inaugural PRO Housing competition will update state and local housing plans, revise land use policies, streamline the permitting process, provide construction funds, and take other actions to create more housing-forward communities. Newark, NJ listed among awardees.


  • US DOT Announces $1.8 Billion in Infrastructure Grants Across the Country

    June 26, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) awarded the Borough of Carteret $5,613,489 to carry out their Intermodal Transportation Building Project. This project will fund the construction of an approximate 50,000 square-foot intermodal transportation building with three full stories on approximately 8.67 acres at its waterfront. The project site will include a mixed-use intermodal transportation center consisting of a passenger terminal and Port Authority office space. The project site will also connect to a 20-foot-wide elevated pedestrian boardwalk, fixed pier, floating docks, wave screen, and handicap access ramp.


  • EPA Makes a Splash with Award of $258,000 to New Jersey to Support Water Quality Monitoring at Beaches to Protect Public Health

    June 20, 2024 - At Bradley Beach, NJ, The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) regional administrator Lisa Garcia announced $258,000 in grant funding to help New Jersey’s coastal communities protect the health of beachgoers. The funding will assist New Jersey in conducting water quality monitoring and public notification programs for their beaches. This funding supports the important work done through a longstanding partnership between the DEP and local health departments to monitor and report on water quality so that residents and visitors can enjoy carefree and fun days at the beach.  


  • $56 Million Awarded to HRSA-Funded Health Centers to Support Improving Quality Health Services in High Need Communities

    June 20, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), through the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), awarded $56 million to support HRSA-funded health centers’ commitment to high-quality care through new investments in modernized technology. HRSA-funded health centers provide primary care to 30 million people and serve patients regardless of ability to pay. HRSA awarded a total of $978,552 to 23 New Jersey Health Centers to Improve Quality Health Services in High-Need Communities. 


  • USDA Awards $50 Million to Support Farmworkers and Agricultural Employers

    June 14, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced it is awarding $50 million to 141 awardees in 40 states and Puerto Rico, through the Farm Labor Stabilization and Protection Pilot Program (FLSP Program). Moonshot Farms and Alstede Farms were two NJ farms among the awardees, receiving a combined total of $600,000. The awards will help improve the resiliency of the U.S. food supply chain by addressing agriculture labor challenges and instability, strengthen protections for farmworkers, and expand legal pathways for labor migration.  


  • HUD Awards $10 Million in Grants to Combat the Homeownership Gap Through Housing Counseling

    June 17, 2024 - the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s (HUD) Office of Housing Counseling awarded a total of $639,403 in grant funding to three New Jersey counseling agencies under its Homeownership Initiative. This initiative provided grants to 23 HUD-approved housing counseling agencies. The funding will support activities by these agencies to prepare and equip prospective homebuyers to successfully navigate the home buying process and guide them in accessing the affordable homes they deserve. 


  • EPA Announces More Than $12 Million in Rebates for Clean School Buses Across New Jersey

    May 29, 2024 - The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced the selections to receive rebates under the 2023 Clean School Bus Program rebate competition, including rebates to benefit kids in New Jersey. Eleven school districts in New Jersey were awarded a total of over $12 million in rebates that will provide almost 70 clean school buses. This rebate program advances important work to improve the health of children who are especially vulnerable to the pollutants emitted by diesel school buses, and complements the Murphy Administration’s Electric School Bus Grant Program that launched at the beginning of this year. 


  • EPA announces 60 selectees under Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund grant competition to deliver solar to more than 900,000 low-income and disadvantaged households nationwide through the President’s Investing in America agenda

    April 22, 2024 -  As the Biden-Harris Administration celebrates Earth Day, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced 60 selectees that will receive $7 billion in grant awards through the Solar for All grant competition to deliver residential solar projects to over 900,000 households nationwide. The grant competition is funded by President Biden’s Investing in America agenda through the Inflation Reduction Act, which created EPA’s $27 billion Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund. The 60 selections under the $7 billion Solar for All program will provide funds to states, territories, Tribal governments, municipalities, and nonprofits across the country to develop long-lasting solar programs that enable low-income and disadvantaged communities to deploy and benefit from distributed residential solar, lowering energy costs for families, creating good-quality jobs in communities that have been left behind, advancing environmental justice and tackling climate change. The New Jersey Board of Public Utilitis is among the list of awardees. 


  • The FTA Announces Nearly $110 Million in Relief Funding to Help Public Transportation Providers Recover from Natural Disasters

    February 5, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Transportation’s Federal Transit Administration (FTA) announced nearly $110 million in funding to eight public transportation providers and state Departments of Transportation in six states and one U.S. territory to help communities recover from recent natural disasters.  The support, provided through FTA’s Public Transportation Emergency Relief (ER) Program, will help agencies repair damaged equipment and facilities and recoup costs for evacuation and rescue operations following floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes that occurred in 2017 and 2020-22. New Jersey among the list of awardees. 


  • NSF Awards $150 Million for 10 Regional Innovation Engines

    January 29, 2024 The National Science Foundation (NSF) announced the awards under the CHIPS and Science Act to establish 10 Regional Innovation Engines across 18 states. Each team will receive an initial $15 million over the next two years with the potential to receive up to $160 million each over the next decade. Beyond the 10 NSF Engines awards, a subset of the semifinalists and finalists will be invited to pursue NSF Engines Development Awards, with each receiving up to $1 million to further develop their partnerships and model for a future NSF Engines proposal.   • The US Department of Education Awards $25 Million for Career Connected High Schools (CCHS)

    January 24, 2024 - The U.S. Department of Education announced 19 new grant awards totaling $25 million through the first-ever Perkins Innovation and Modernization, Career Connected High Schools (CCHS) grant program. The program builds the capacity of education and workforce systems to partner with business and industry, to develop new high-quality career-connected high school programs for more students.  New Jersey among the list of awardees. 


  • FHWA Provides $729.4 Million for Disaster Repairs Through Emergency Relief Program

    January 23, 2024 - As part of the U.S. Department of Transportation’s coordinated approach to help states repair and rebuild roads and bridges, the Federal Highway Administration today announced it is providing $729.4 million to be used to support repair needs following natural disasters, extreme weather, or catastrophic events, such as hurricanes, flooding and mudslides. These events will receive federal reimbursement funding under the FHWA’s Emergency Relief (ER) program as the result of major disaster declarations. New Jersey among the list of awardees.


  • Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Awards Nearly $1 Billion to 67 FY 2023 Clean School Bus Grant Program Applicants

    January 8, 2024 - As part of its ongoing commitment to protecting children and improving air quality, today, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced the selection of 67 applicants to receive nearly $1 billion through EPA’s first Clean School Bus Program Grants Competition. Lakewood Township School District, Elizabeth Public Schools, Newark Public Schools District, Union City Schools District and Bloomfield Township School District among the awardees.
