Requirements to participate include:
- Resident of the region where program services will be provided
- Age 18 or older
- Income level consistent with ALICE (Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed) guidelines
- Ability and willingness to complete identified training and obtain employment
Participants must have income levels consistent with ALICE guidelines.
Only one member per household may be enrolled in this program.
As long as a resident meets all the criteria, they are able to participate in the program.
If an applicant is not a U.S. citizen, they are required to have proper work authorization to work in the United States.
Residents who have prior degrees or other credentials are able to enroll in the program as long as they meet the eligibility requirements and are willing to complete identified training and obtain employment.
Fund My Future participants are NOT able to be co-enrolled in Pathways to Recovery (PTR), Job Opportunities for Building Success (JOBS), and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program Skills, Training, Employment, Program to Success (SNAP STEPS). All programs provide the same services to participants, including training, supportive services, and career services.
If a resident is already in training at the time of enrollment but needs additional support, then they are eligible for the program, provided they meet the eligibility criteria.
There is no training threshold. Therefore, if a resident meets the eligibility requirements, they can participate in the Fund My Future program.
Participants are required to be enrolled in AOSOS before receiving any services from this program.
Yes, training provided must align with in-demand occupations, as outlined by the State.
All participants must be enrolled in training—or plan to enroll in training—in the Fund My Future program.
Yes, these residents are able to participate, provided the certificate helps them on their career path.
If awarded, grantees are responsible to serve participants in ALL counties within their region. Grantees are highly encouraged to partner with other organizations to ensure all counties are covered throughout their area.
Training from out-of-state-providers is prohibited by the New Jersey Department of Labor (NJDOL). Grantees can assist their participants in finding appropriate training through the NJ Training Explorer website.
Participants are able to be enrolled in GED training, which upon completion, would be considered an approved credential.
Participants are able to be enrolled in one training and then subsequently enroll in another training in order to reach their career objectives. Individual Employment Plans must notate this course of action and substantiate reasoning for providing multiple trainings.
Grantees are responsible for obtaining receipts/invoices from participants for their debit card expenditures. This documentation should be placed in participants’ files.
As long as the participant is also enrolled in training, they may participate in the program.
Adult children who are not the heads of their household but reside with their parents are required to include their parents’ total income to ensure income eligibility.
Residents with no income are not required to provide documentation to establish eligibility for this program. However, they may be required to fill out a self-attestation form.
If a resident has income coming in and refuses to disclose their household income, they are ineligible for the program.
The purpose of these funds is specifically for training and supportive services.
