Traffic Patterns

Key concerns for the New Jersey Department of Transportation and members of the community during construction are traffic lanes for motorists and bridge openings for boaters. The construction has been staged to achieve this goal.

Four travel lanes will be maintained during construction and work on the movable span will be performed in the off-season only, November through February, when there is the least demand for bridge openings. This is the last bridge on the Intracoastal Waterway and its opening is critical for commercial and recreational boaters.

Bridge restrictions
These restrictions will allow the contractor to position equipment and material on the bridge and behind the protected work zones:
