Sometimes a claim will need special attention. Learn how to appeal a determination, reopen a claim, end your benefits, and more.
When we determine whether or not your claim is approved, we will mail you a determination letter. If you disagree, you have the right to file an appeal.
You have one year from the date you file your initial claim to collect the maximum balance of Unemployment Insurance benefits available to you based on your monetary eligibility.
If you get benefits for a period of time, then return to work, but become unemployed again, you can reopen your initial claim.
You can also reopen a claim after a period of ineligibility has expired (for example, after you quit or are fired).

if benefits were paid to you in error, you will receive a notice in the mail. Here's what to do next.
After you return to work, you'll notify us when you call or go online to certify for benefits. You'll need the date you returned and the name, address, and telephone number of your new employer. You will also need to tell us how many hours you worked and what your gross earnings were for that period (you may need to estimate these).
