January 7, 2008

This view is from the city side of the new Albany Street structure which was built in three sections without interrupting the flow of traffic. Crews set the beams for the center section of this bridge in early January and it is anticipated to be completed in Spring 2008.

Looking south from atop the city side abutment of the new George Street bridge, the view if of the expansion in the width of Route 18 with the separation of express and local lanes. These lanes will merge just before the pedestrian bridge which is in the distance.
The George Street structure will provide access to northbound Route 18 from the southern end of the Rutgers Campus. This will take a heavy traffic burden of the roadways in the center of the city and increase traffic flow for local businesses and the community and greatly reduce the time it takes to move between Rutgers Douglas Campus and the Busch Campus in Piscataway.
