The scrap metal contract is directly utilized by New Jersey State agencies for the disposal of various type of scrap metal. The State is reimbursed monetarily by the contract vendor, on a monthly basis, in accordance with the state contract pricing/market indices. The main function of the DSS Surplus Property Unit is to serve as the collecting agent of the monthly vendor report and proceeds. DSS serves as the main contact if there are any problems/issues with contract vendor. DSS does not directly engage the contract vendor for services; using agencies statewide directly work with the contract vendor.
