About Us

The New Jersey Department of the Treasury is committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive workforce. In 2022, an advisory group established the framework for Treasury Together, the Department’s diversity and inclusion initiative, which launched in early 2023. To further this mission, Treasury selected its first Diversity Officer & Legal Liaison to lead the newly formed Diversity Unit. This unit is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing programs and policies that support Treasury’s comprehensive diversity and inclusion goals, ensuring a work environment where inclusivity and belonging are prioritized at all levels.

Since its inception, the Diversity Unit has expanded upon the original Treasury Together framework and introduced several new approaches and strategies to accomplish Treasury’s diversity and inclusion mission, objectives, and goals.

The Diversity Unit is concentrated on promoting organizational diversity in three key areas—with the goal of promoting workforce inclusion, equity, engagement, and accountability throughout all facets of the Department to foster sustainable change:

Workforce-focuses on the people in the organization. Our aim is to ensure that we have a qualified, talented workforce of individuals with varied backgrounds, experiences, and skillsets at every level of our Department. We are committed to ensuring that every phase of our human resource practice is focused on recruiting, hiring, developing, retaining, and advancing practices that are fair and equitable.

Workplace-addresses the culture of the organization. Our aim is to foster a work culture of inclusion and belonging that encourages collaboration and allows every employee to successfully contribute to the mission and goals of the Department.

Community-covers our relationships with community partners. Our aim is to advance diversity and inclusion initiatives by building partnerships with community organizations and the constituents we serve. It is our goal to ensure that Treasury’s values are reflected both internally and externally to our community and the state’s citizens. Through these efforts, Treasury is committed to creating a more inclusive and equitable environment for all.
