Taxation Education and Media Branch (TEAM)

TEAM promotes voluntary compliance through education and effective communication, as well as in person tax assistance. TEAM consists of:

  • Taxation University;
  • Taxpayer Communications Unit;
  • Web and Social Media; and
  • Regional Information Centers.

Taxation University

Taxation University conducts internal training, for both new and existing employees. Tax U equips our employees with fundamental tax knowledge and the skills to make tax obligations easy for the public.

They also conduct external tax seminars and workshops for:

  • CPAs;
  • Tax volunteers; and
  • Small Business owners.

Regional Information Centers

Regional Information Centers (RICs) are located throughout New Jersey as a convenient resource for the public. Some offices provide the opportunity for in person visits, while others are available as a drop-off location for the public to remit documentation.

Offices open to the public for consultation can assist individuals and businesses with:

  • Bills and notices received
  • Filing tax returns
  • Answering questions about NJ taxes
  • Refund status
  • Filing and paying
  • Providing copies of previously filed tax returns
  • Understanding tax obligations and how to stay compliant
  • Property tax relief applications
Taxpayer Communications Unit

Taxpayer Communications Unit is comprised of two sections, Plain Language and Publications.

This unit:

  • Designs letters and notices,
  • Responds to correspondence,
  • Produces informational publications and tax return instructions,
  • Reviews the Division's written communications with the public.
Web and Social Media Team

Web and Social Media Team provides general and technical tax information for the website, as well as defines and executes a specific social media strategy. They are responsible for managing branded online communities on the Division’s behalf using Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, and Linkedin.
