NJ Health Department Alerts Residents of a New Confirmed Measles Case, Urges Individuals to Stay Up to Date on Vaccines (August 2, 2025)

The single confirmed case is a resident of Passaic County who presented with measles following recent international travel. This case is not related to the recent Hudson County or Ocean County cases reported in July. New Jersey is not currently experiencing a measles outbreak, which is defined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) as three or more related cases.

Through NJDOH Waivers, Paramedics in New Jersey Are Now Providing Blood Transfusions to Critically Injured Patients

Paramedics in New Jersey can now administer blood transfusions at the scene of emergencies and while transporting patients to hospitals, a critical advancement that medical experts believe will save lives across the State. That follows the Department of Health’s issuance of two waivers in late 2024 authorizing hospital systems to partner with blood banks and implement a pre-hospital whole blood and blood component administration program.

The New Jersey Department of Health announced today 32 public members appointed to the Advisory Council on HIV, STIs, and Viral Hepatitis. The Advisory Council is responsible for coordinating initiatives designed to address the HIV epidemic, the rising cases of sexually transmitted infections (STIs) and viral hepatitis, and the risks of contracting such diseases through injection drug use.
