Things to Remember when Getting Involved

Strategic sharing is telling your life story in a way that is meaningful, effective, and safe. It is a  fundamental technique that is used when sharing your personal experiences in foster care. It ensures that you are protecting yourself and other people that have played a role in shaping your story. There is a guide below that outlines strategic sharing and why it is a vital skill in foster care advocacy. This packet allows you to better understand the depths of your story and help you decide what you are comfortable and not comfortable with sharing.

Remember: your story is your own.  Your lived experiences offer you insight into the foster care system, but the extent to which you get involved is up to you.
